PROPER WASTE SEPARATION
Awareness of waste separation has grown steadily in recent years, yet in many places the separation of waste and recyclables is still not a matter of course.
So that you, just like us, can do your bit for a clean environment that we can all enjoy and that future generations can also benefit from, we would like to refresh your knowledge of waste separation and recycling. We want to eliminate uncertainties and avoid overflowing bins, dirty waste collection points and unpleasant odours in summer, because the bins or yellow bags are no longer being collected by the waste disposal company.

Please have in mind that the additional effort required for cleaning and separate disposal of incorrectly sorted waste leads to considerable additional costs, which we must pass on to you as tenants. To avoid this and ensure cleanliness and order, we need your support!
Waste separation made easy – What goes in which bin?
Residual waste in the black Bin
Rubbish, diapers, hygiene products, light bulbs and halogen lamps, damaged clothing, broken toys, unemptied and heavily soiled packaging, cold ashes, dog waste bags, cat litter

Where to put the things that don't fit in a bin?
Bulk waste, scrap and electrical metal, greenery waste
Bulk rubbish
Non-metallic furniture, mattresses, duvets, pillows, carpets, floor coverings, bags, suitcases, baskets, boxes, tubs, buckets, roller blinds, curtain rods, garden and camping furniture, sports equipment, strollers
Bulk waste can be registered for pick up twice a year. You can do that online at www.zaso-online.de. After filling out and submitting the online form you will receive a collection date by email within three weeks.
Please put your bulk waste out by 6:00 a.m. on collection day. Make sure that it does not obstruct traffic.
Scrap metal
Electrical and household appliances, large appliances, furniture with electrical components, bicycles, scooters, fitness equipment, stoves, pipes, radiators, tubs, buckets, lamps, ironing boards, shelves, tools, garden tools, wires, cables, pipes, fences, gates, doors and metal gutters.
Scrap metal can be registered for pick up twice a year. You can do that online at www.zaso-online.de. After filling out and submitting the online form you will receive a collection date by email within three weeks.
Please put your scrap metal out by 6:00 a.m. on collection day. Make sure that it does not obstruct traffic.
Green Waste
Leaves, branches and tree cuttings, grass clippings, Christmas trees, plant waste from gardens, patios, and balconies
Green waste can be disposed free of charge at local green waste collection points. All you need is the green waste card of the local waste management association (ZASO), which is delivered annually to all households in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt county.
